Jakarta,-- Penolakan sebagian warga terhadap lurah perempuan dan beragama Protestan di Lenteng Agung, Jakarta Selatan, dinilai sebagai bentuk intoleransi dan diskriminasi atas dasar jenis kelamin dan agama.

Kasus diskriminasi berlapis tersebut dianggap merupakan ujian kedua bagi pasangan Jokowi-Ahok dalam mengatasi persoalan intoleransi agama di Jakarta.

Sebelumnya, pada Februari 2013, kasus intoleransi di Tambora, Jakarta Barat, juga belum diatasi dengan baik.

“Jokowi-Ahok harus menegaskan posisinya bahwa tata kelola pemerintahan dijalankan berdasarkan Konstitusi RI dan peraturan perundang-undangan,” kata Ketua Setara Institute, Hendardi, Kamis (22/8).

Hendardi menjelaskan, setiap warga negara mempunyai hak yang sama untuk menduduki jabatan tertentu. Jika aspirasi intoleransi warga dipenuhi Jokowi, maka menurutnya, dipastikan virus intoleransi serupa akan menyebar ke berbagai wilayah.

Diberitakan, Pemprov DKI Jakarta akan mempertimbangkan permintaan warga Kelurahan Lenteng Agung, Jakarta Selatan, soal penolakan kepemimpinan lurah non-Muslim, Susan Jasmine Zulkifli.

Lurah baru ini merupakan salah satu lurah yang lolos dalam lelang terbuka pemilihan lurah, beberapa waktu lalu, dan telah dilantik pada Juni lalu.

Seperti dirilis The Jakarta Post, Senin (19/8), beberapa warga Lenteng Agung, Jakarta Selatan menuntut pemerintah DKI Jakarta untuk mengganti lurah mereka yang baru.

Alasan warga adalah karena lurah baru itu non-Muslim, sedangkan kecamatan yang dipimpinnya mayoritas adalah umat Muslim. Jadi adalah sebuah keanehan jika lurah non-Muslim akan menghadiri berbagai aktivitas keagamaan.

Wakil Gubernur DKI Jakarta Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama juga mengalami penolakan, hanya karena ia berasal dari non-Muslim.

Yoman just wonder if the Church was asked by the government to enroll in the Department of Religion, or at the National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol).

"How could the government would set the Church founded by God himself on solid rock, it's a big mistake, and the people be damned if the church play," he said in a hard tone.

Yoman who has served as Chairman of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Papua during the two periods is confirmed, the Church must do the change of the system state is oppressive and discriminatory, in a spirit of partnership.

It is said, if the partners said the government, then it should be obvious, because the church is usually subdued after being given money by the government billions.

"For Baptists, if you want money, go ahead, if not also do, because the Baptist church has never received money from the SAF to the present government," he said.

However, Yoman also said that, if there is a person on behalf of the Chairman of the Synod of the Baptist Church and received money from the government, that's fine, because he was as Chairman of the Synod PGBP legitimate SAF never received funding from the government.

"You see thousands of people who were present at this time, it is the people of God, I want to say that the church could not ditundukan with billions of dollars of money, the church must make a change-the change to the system that oppresses the country," he concluded.

Employment Non-Discrimination Act Reintroduced In Senate

WASHINGTON -- Hoping to get a lift from the changing tides on gay marriage, a bipartisan group of senators introduced legislation Thursday that would ban job discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, or ENDA, has been introduced in Congress regularly since the mid-1990s without ever being passed. But given the public discussion on gay rights over the past year, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), a co-sponsor, told HuffPost he thinks the bill has about as good a shot as ever in the Senate. 

"There's a growing recognition that discrimination is wrong" against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, Merkley said Thursday. "The same concept that's driving the marriage debate will help drive success on employment discrimination." 

Gay marriage now has support from all but three Democratic senators -- Sens. Mary Landrieu (La.), Mark Pryor (Ark.) and Joe Manchin (W.Va.) -- as well as Republican Sens. Mark Kirk (Ill.) and Rob Portman (Ohio).

ENDA would bar companies from factoring sexual orientation or gender identity into employment decisions. Employers are already prohibited by federal law from discriminating over race, religion, age, gender or disability. The proposal exempts businesses with fewer than 15 employees as well as religious organizations.

For the ENDA bill, Merkley's co-sponsors include Democratic Sens. Tom Harkin (Iowa) and Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), as well as Kirk and fellow Republican Susan Collins (Maine). A companion bill has been introduced in the House by Reps. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.).

According to the Human Rights Campaign, 21 states and the District of Columbia already have ENDA-style laws on their books for sexual orientation, while 16 states and D.C. include such laws for gender identity. Many companies have already put such policies in place voluntarily.

Harkin, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, has said he plans to mark up the bill this year. It's doubtful, however, that the legislation will become a priority in the GOP-controlled House.

ENDA nearly became law in 1996, two years after it was first introduced. In the end, it fell one vote shy in the Senate, 50-49, days before the Defense of Marriage Act was signed into law. It hasn't come as close since.

Merkley noted that the narrow 1996 defeat came in an up-down vote, at a time when the filibuster was used less frequently. ENDA would now almost certainly have to reach 60 votes.

"It's a very good example of how the Senate has changed, from simple majority votes to being a super-majority body," Merkley said. "I feel extremely positive about our chances, but we'll have to do it at a higher standard."
